Evolve Housing was honoured to win the award for Excellence in Business Ethics at the Western Sydney Awards for Business Excellence (WSABE) last week, especially given the high standard of finalists.
Evolve won the award for its work in the community empowering residents and building sustainable communities as well as its outstanding efforts leading the organisation of the 2015 and 2016 Western Sydney Homeless Connect event.
Evolve Housing has shown that it is committed to providing integrated housing solutions and engagement programs that empower residents and disadvantaged people on their journey to great independence. Evolve’s vision is to build thriving communities where all people flourish with a focus on strengthening and empowering people on their journey of personal growth.
Andrea Galloway, CEO Evolve Housing said that with 60% of the organisations’ housing portfolio and tenants located in the high need area of Western Sydney, Evolve is highly involved and most active within the Western Sydney community.
Evolve has partnered with leading property developer Payce to deliver a landmark housing development in Penrith that will not only include private market apartments but also social and affordable housing. The Harts landing development incudes a total of 268 apartments that will be home to approximately 800 people in housing need with half being people in high need housing stress.
“People are at the heart of what we do. We fundamentally believes it’s everyone’s right to a home; somewhere they can feel safe, secure and engage with the community. Partnering with Western Sydney Homeless Connect as the project lead is one way we can extend our reach beyond our Evolve Housing residents to support the broader Western Sydney community. With homelessness on the rise and the housing affordability crisis pushing people further into poverty, we need to be looking at ways to prevent people from falling into homelessness and continuing to provide opportunities for people in community housing through appropriate, affordable housing and housing support solutions.’
‘We are privileged to receive this WSABE award and hope that we can continue to deliver positive social and economic outcomes that are both sustainable and beneficial to the community socially and economically,” said Ms Galloway.
The WSABE awards provide an opportunity for organisations in the NFP and commercial sectors across Western Sydney to achieve recognition for their excellence as well as connect to increase collaboration in the region. Evolve is recognised as an industry leader having won more than 30 industry awards including for the past 2 years being named Australian Housing Institute NSW Community Housing provider of the year.
Evolve Housing is one of Australia’s largest Community Housing Providers (CHPs), that owns or manages approximately 4,200 social and affordable housing properties across Australia that are home to almost 12,000 people who were in housing need.
