Evolve Housing is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Chris Eccles AO as Chair of the Evolve Housing Group Board, effective immediately following the retirement of longstanding Chair Paul Howlett. Chris brings a wealth of experience in public administration and policy leadership, with a focus on governance and strategic management that is invaluable in ensuring Evolve Housing Group’s success.

Chris joined the Evolve Housing Board in November 2023, following his involvement with the Evolve Housing Group since 2020, including as Deputy Chair of Evolve Housing Vic Limited (EHVL) and Member of the Transaction Review Committee. His career spans a distinguished tenure in the public sector, including serving as Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet in Victoria (2014-2020), Director-General of the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet (2011-2014), and Chief Executive of the South Australian Department of the Premier and Cabinet (2009-2011). Chris was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2017 for his outstanding contributions to public service, innovative policy development, and social reform.

As Chair, Chris will lead the Board in advancing Evolve Housing’s ambition to enable more people to live in quality homes in thriving and inclusive communities. He brings a wealth of experience in policy reform, sectoral improvement, and public service that will support Evolve Housing in meeting the needs of communities across New South Wales, Victoria and the ACT.

“I am honoured to take on the role of Chair at Evolve Housing and work alongside an inspiring team committed to tackling housing affordability and homelessness,” said Mr. Eccles. “I would like to acknowledge Paul Howlett’s significant contribution and dedication over the past 15 years, which has set an incredible foundation for Evolve Housing’s growth and impact. I look forward to building on his legacy to ensure we continue to drive positive change for communities in need.”

The Board and management team at Evolve Housing warmly welcome Chris Eccles to his new role as Chair and look forward to his leadership shaping the organisation’s vision and growth in the years to come.
