Evolve Housing Group has completed its first Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Strategy, marking an important step in formalising how our organisation understands, manages and reports on its environmental and social responsibility.

The ESG Strategy 2025–2028 sets out a clear framework for embedding environmental stewardship, social outcomes and strong governance across our organisation, as Evolve Housing continues to respond to the impacts of climate change, the rising cost of living  and Australia’s housing and unaffordability crisis.

Chief Executive Officer Lyall Gorman said, “This ESG Strategy is a foundation stone for Evolve Housing. It strengthens how we plan, govern and measure our impact as we grow, ensuring our homes and communities are appropriate, functional, , inclusive and sustainable over the long term for the residents who call them home.”

The strategy outlines:

  • Evolve Housing’s ESG vision and approach
  • A clear framework and four strategic themes and nine priority focus areas that guide our approach.
  • Strategic themes:
    • Environment
    • Tenant and community
    • Governance
    • People
    • People
  • A clear approach to measure our progress and  report

Importantly, the Strategy focuses on building organisational capability and establishing clear baselines to support meaningful change. .

Chairman Chris Eccles said the strong focus  on transparent measures  and accountability was intentional, reinforcing our commitment to delivering meaningful outcomes. .

“Our focus is on getting the foundations right – strengthening governance, building reliable data and embedding ESG into decision-making – so that when we report publicly on our impact, it is credible, consistent and meaningful.”

In late 2026, Evolve Housing will publish its first Sustainability Impact Report for FY2025–26. The report will align with the Australian Community Housing (ACH) ESG Reporting Standard and the organisation’s Social Outcomes Framework.

The report will provide transparent reporting to residents, partners, investors and stakeholders, and mark the next phase of Evolve Housing’s ESG journey, moving from strategy to demonstrated outcomes.

The ESG Strategy supports Evolve Housing’s broader purpose of enabling more people in need to live in quality homes in thriving and inclusive communities, while ensuring the organisation’s growth is responsible, resilient and sustainable.
