GO! Grants Factsheet

Go! Grants provide financial support to help young people get involved with sports and physical activity. It can be used for any sport or physical activity class, and also covers other activities such as dance, swimming, soccer and cultural activities.

It can cover fees and the purchase of equipment or uniforms.

  • You can also apply to Active Kids, a NSW Government initiative for additional help in paying for children’s sports activities.
  • Research suggests engaging in sport produces physical, psychological and social health benefits for young people. The health-related advantages of sport are wide-ranging, from obesity prevention to academic enhancement.

Program benefits

  • The grant provides up to $700 per household over 2 years, with up to $350 per year
  •  Funds can be used for both class fees and equipment needed to participate.

Who can apply for the grant?

  • Applicant must be an Evolve Housing resident
  • Applicant must be a Permanent Resident or Australian citizen
  • Applicant is aged 18 years or younger
  • Applicant household does not have debt with Evolve Housing.

Program requirements

  • One application form per child, and if approved, funds will be allocated per household
  • Proof of registration in a sporting, cultural or physical activity
  • Copy of quote or invoice for equipment / fees needed for the activity. No cash payments will be approved
  • Grants are approved for activities that children are either currently undertaking or are in the process of applying to participate in.

Payments

  • Payments can be made directly to the activity provider by direct debit. An invoice needs to be provided with the application
  • We can also pay directly to the applicant by direct debit with the receipt for items purchased that relate to the activity the children are doing
  • Items could include uniforms, fees / program costs or equipment.

How to apply?

You will need to fill out an application form for each child.

How long does the application process take?

  • Once the application is lodged, it can take up to 3 weeks to process. You will then receive a letter to let you know if your application was successful or not

Can you reimburse me for the sports expenses I had last term?

  • No, payments can only be made for activities children are currently participating in.

Can I have help for more than one child at a time?

  • Yes, the funding is per household not per child.

What if my child changes their mind and wants to change sport in the second year?

  • No worries — you can easily change sports or do other activities that are funded
    by the grant.
