Evolve Housing’s Morisset project receives development consent

The construction of a vibrant new mixed-tenure development is a step closer to fruition, with Evolve Housing receiving Development Consent for its Morisset project.
Evolve Housing, in partnership with the Department of Communities and Justice, is proud to be delivering a total of 19 dwellings in Morisset, including 15 social housing and four disability housing dwellings, helping ease the growing need for social housing in regional NSW.
Evolve Housing CEO Lyall Gorman said he is incredibly pleased with the progress.
‘We have achieved a very important milestone having received approval for our Morisset development. This project will not only increase the supply of social and disability housing in regional NSW but is a prime example of successful partnerships between Government, Community Housing Providers and potential Developers in delivering successful, sustainable infrastructure’. Mr. Gorman said.
‘The harsh reality is that many Australian families are experiencing significant housing stress, and this is predicted to rise with inflation rate rises and increasing costs of living…Our Morisset development will help ease this housing insecurity for some, but the reality is, is that demand for social and affordable housing far outstrips the current supply capabilities and we sincerely hope we are able to continue the speedy delivery of projects like Morisset for the foreseeable future’.
We thank the Department of Communities and Justice for securing capital grant funding through the Community Housing Innovation Fund (CHIF) to aid in the development of the social housing component of this project.
We also extend our thanks to our partners at Lake Macquarie Council and the team of consultants working on this project. We look forward to the next stage of this development phase, engaging a suitable, experienced Developer to partner with in its development.
