Carer’s Week

Oct 16, 2023 , , ,

As we celebrate Carer’s Week, we take a moment to recognise and honour the remarkable individuals who provide care and support to those in need. Carers play an essential role in our communities contributing to their well-being and enriching their quality of life.

This year’s theme, ‘Millions of Reasons to Care’, aims to broaden the awareness of the 2.65 million Australians caring for their family members and friends. Carers represent a diverse range of cultures, ages, experiences and responsibilities, but all of them balance caring responsibilities with other responsibilities like work, study and their physical and mental health.

Why Carer’s Week Matters

Carer’s Week is an annual campaign that shines a light on the incredible work done by carers. It’s a time to celebrate their dedication and show our appreciation for the vital roles they play in our society. Whether they are professional caregivers, family members, or friends, carers selflessly give their time and energy to assist those who require support.

How Can You Get Involved?

  • Express Your Gratitude: Take a moment to thank the carers in your life. A small token of appreciation, a heartfelt message, or a simple act of kindness can go a long way.
  • Share Stories: Share your own caregiving experiences or the stories of carers you know. Highlight the challenges they face and the impact they have on the lives they touch.
  • Raise Awareness: Use social media and your personal network to raise awareness about the importance of carers and the need for better support and resources.

Did you know 44% of our workforce identify as parent or carer? That means, almost half of our colleagues provide care and support to family members or friends, including parenting children, looking after someone with a disability, with mental health conditions, or chronic health conditions or who are frail aged.

At Evolve Housing and EchoRealty, we’re committed to supporting carers and ensuring they have the resources and recognition they deserve. As an organisation, we honour these unsung heroes who make a positive impact on the lives of those they care for.

This week pause and dedicate a few moments of your time to show your appreciation to someone special in your life or work who plays a vital role in providing care and support to others.
