Earlier this month, the Evolve Housing Together Home team shed light on the homelessness crisis that is unfolding across Australia. Unfortunately, there are more than 122,000 Australians who experience homelessness every night.  

This year’s theme for Homelessness Week is: “It’s time to end homelessness” and is a reminder of the importance of social and affordable housing as a solution to end homelessness.  

Evolve Housing believes in everyone’s right to a home and work tirelessly to help those most in need. This is reflected in the incredible work from the Together Home team who help clients experiencing homelessness in finding a new place to call home. 

The Together Home team shared brave stories of clients who experienced homelessness and how the Together Home program and its dedicated case workers assisted them in finding a new place to call home. 

One client of the Together Home program is Peter who struggled with homelessness when he was just 14 years old. Upon entering the program, Peter was grappling with his drug addiction and revealed that he had lost two properties because of it and for a string of crimes he had committed. However, despite his past, our dedicated Together Home team did not give up on Peter and helped him with family support, food, and to work on himself for a better future.  

“I feel at home here with all the support around me. I feel good,” Peter said.   

Another client is Aaron, who would constantly run away from home due to his medication. He spent most of his life on the street leaving his parents worried about his constant whereabouts. A change in medication and being surrounded by the right people made all the difference in the world for Aaron who now has his own place to call home.  

“It makes a big difference, it’s better than being on the streets,” Aaron said.  

These courageous individuals inspire us to continue the fight to ensure everyone has a roof over their heads.
