Evolve Housing Vic wins Homes Victoria’s Community Housing Placement Program Tender to manage 100 Social Housing Dwellings in Ascot Vale

Mar 30, 2023 , , , ,

Award-winning community housing provider Evolve Housing is proud to announce their recent expansion by their Victorian entity Evolve Housing Vic Limited (EHVL) in the management of 100 new social housing dwellings in Ascot Vale.

Operating primarily in New South Wales, Evolve Housing currently provides a home to more than 10,000 residents living in over 4,500 properties. The expansion into Victoria, gives EHVL the opportunity to help more Australians secure a roof over their heads, while having a strong positive impact on the Victorian community by increasing the capacity of the state’s community housing sector.

Our recent expansion is part of the Victorian Government’s remarkable $5.3 billion Big Housing Build initiative launched in 2020 to help ease pressure on the housing system. This exciting new initiative saw $104 million dedicated to Ascot Vale, where 80 old walk-ups were replaced by 200 modern, comfortable and accessible one, two, and three-bedroom homes and five fully accessible apartments to support people living with disability. This resulted in the creation of 200 brand new quality social and affordable homes at Ascot Vale, of which EHVL successfully tendered and won the management of 100 social housing dwellings. This management portfolio will also see EHVL managing all common areas and building maintenance for all 200 dwellings, comprising of 100 social and 100 affordable housing dwellings.

Developments like Ascot Vale showcase how redeveloping social housing stock can impact not only its surroundings, but the lives of our residents, unlocking endless opportunities for personal and community growth to live the life every Australian deserves. EHVL is honoured to aid in this impact, supplying safe, stable and affordable housing to our new residents in Ascot Vale.

Victorian Housing Minister Colin Brooks said it is fantastic to see the Big Housing Build come to life as they continue to work toward creating more social and affordable housing for Victorians.

“This is an exciting day – we’re so proud to unveil 200 beautiful new social and affordable homes, which set a new benchmark for modern, comfortable and energy-efficient homes,” he said.

“We’re increasing housing supply in well-located inner-urban areas of Melbourne to take pressure off the wider housing market – and today we are seeing how these homes are unlocking opportunity for more Victorians.”

EHVL Group CEO Lyall Gorman said the expansion into Victoria is a testament to our purpose of enabling more people in need to live in quality homes with quality support services.

“We at Evolve Housing recognise that the need for housing solutions is not just a state based one but rather a whole-of-country issue and responsibility,” he said.

“With the increasing costs of housing, particularly rental unaffordability, everyday Australians are faced with the constant harsh reality of housing stress and potential homelessness.

“We hear first-hand how hard it is to pay rent, have food on the table and support loved ones, and we want to be part of the essential drive to help Australians around the country in securing a place they can call home.

“The team at EHVL will draw upon the experiences of its parent company Evolve Housing – as one of the largest Community Housing Providers in Australia – and continue to deliver social and affordable housing projects to make dreams come true.

“We strive to provide fair, supportive and consistent housing management services to all our residents, and I have no doubt that our talented and dedicated team will serve the people of Ascot Vale, and Victoria in such a way that the fear of homelessness for those tenants located there is a thing of the past.

“We look forward to working with our Victorian residents on their journey to greater housing independence in the hopes of one day entering the market to purchase their own home.”

EHVL Chairman Paul Howlett said that he believed that the new entity would have a strong positive impact on the Victorian community and increase the capacity of the state’s community housing sector.

“EHVL has a talented Board of Directors to guide it as it hits the ground running in Victoria, which, much like New South Wales, has a strong need for more social and affordable housing,” he said.

“We look forward to working with Homes Victoria on our entry into the social housing arena and to build on our existing affordable housing presence through our profit-for-purpose real estate agency, EchoRealty.”

Evolve Housing is proud to launch our work with the Victorian Community, and particularly our new residents in Ascot Vale who will be met with the same dedication, commitment and care that we show all our residents across Australia. We hope that our work will bring a sense of security and community to our new residents as we have already enjoyed meeting some of them in our recent Ascot Vale Community Forums.

EHVL is a registered community housing provider with the Victorian Housing Registrar, and can work with private investors, developers, other not-for-profits and government to manage social and affordable housing stock.
